Florida teens stranded in ocean pray for help, get rescued by boat named ‘The Amen’

17-year-old friends Tyler Smith and Heather Brown were enjoying an ocean swim on senior skip day when they became stranded two miles off the coastline of Vilano Beach.

Weak and tired from fighting the waves for two hours, the Christ’s Church Academy students who’ve been friends since fourth grade began desperately praying to God for help.

It was then they were rescued by Captain Eric Wagner and his crew aboard “The Amen.”

“Over all the wind, waves, and engines, we thought we heard a desperate scream,” Wagner said. “Exhausted and near the end, the boy told me he called out for God’s help. Then we showed up.”

“The first words that came out of my mouth were, ‘God is real,’” said Tyler Smith. “There’s no other reason, no other explanation in the world other than God.”
