Swift says she’s “obsessed” with politics, focused on 2020 election

Taylor Swift says she’s “obsessed” with politics after being “ambivalent” most of her life. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Swift opened up about white supremacy, politics, and Kanye.

“There’s literally nothing worse than white supremacy. It’s repulsive. There should be no place for it. Really, I keep trying to learn as much as I can about politics, and it’s become something I’m now obsessed with, whereas before, I was living in this sort of political ambivalence, because the person I voted for had always won,” the music star said.

This new enthusiasm for politics has channeled Swift’s focus on the 2020 election.

“I’m just focused on the 2020 election. I’m really focused on it. I’m really focused on how I can help and not hinder. Because I also don’t want it to backfire again, because I do feel that the celebrity involvement with Hillary’s campaign was used against her in a lot of ways.”

🔦 Taylor broke her apolitical streak during the 2018 midterms when she posted a lengthy Instagram post related to then-Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, who was running for an open Senate seat. Swift made allegations about the now-Senator, saying she opposed equal pay for women and opposes efforts to keep women safe from violence. Blackburn has fiercely countered Swift’s allegations.
