The country of India has witnessed over 200 acts of violent anti-Christian persecution this year, continuing a five-year trend of increasing oppression toward Christians in the country.
The Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian advocacy group, logged 218 separate incidents of such violence in just the first eight months of the year, an average of almost 30 assaults per month. The group’s data suggests that less than a quarter of those crimes were investigated by police.
Another group, Evangelical Fellowship of India, says it documented 325 acts of anti-Christian violence last year. If this year’s average continues through December, the number of acts of persecution will be greater than last year.
