Warren pulls ahead of Biden in new national poll

Senator Elizabeth Warren surpassed former Vice President Joe Biden in a new national poll, a further sign that Warren may upstage the veteran politician in the 2020 presidential race.

A Quinnipiac poll revealed a plurality of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, 27 percent, favor Warren; 25 percent still favor Biden. That represents a significant change from an August Quinnipiac poll, which had Biden at 32 percent and Warren at just 19.

The former vice president’s faltering performance comes at the same time of the Ukrainian controversy, in which critics claimed President Trump asked the Ukrainian president to investigate Biden for purported corruption involving the country.
