Judge gives Amber Guyger her personal Bible after sentencing her for murdering Botham Jean

Judge Tammy Kemp, who presided over ex-Dallas cop Amber Guyger’s recent trial and sentenced her to ten years in prison for murdering her neighbor Botham Jean, presented Guyger with her own personal Bible from her chambers and read to her John 3:16 before she was led away by deputies to begin serving her time.

In the emotional moment, which was caught on video, Judge Kemp is overheard whispering to Guyger as they embraced:

“It’s not because I’m good, it’s because I believe in Christ. I’m not so good. You haven’t done so much that you can’t be forgiven. You did something bad in one moment in time. What you do now matters.”

Before Kemp gifted Guyger with the Bible, slain victim Botham Jean’s brother, Brandt Jean, delivered a stunning message of love and forgiveness to the recently-sentenced Guyger. After imploring the judge for permission, he then embraced her as she wept:

Guyger shot and killed Botham Jean on September 6, 2018. Guyger claims she walked into the wrong apartment and, thinking she was in her own home, mistook resident Botham Jean for an intruder before opening fire. On Monday, Guyger was convicted of murder and on Tuesday was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
