Joshua Brown, neighbor of Botham Jean and Amber Guyger and key witness in the latter’s murder trial, was shot to death Friday evening in Dallas.
Brown, 28, was shot in the back and thigh, reports the Dallas Morning News, citing a government official speaking on condition of anonymity.
The shooter or shooters are at large. Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and saw a silver four-door sedan speeding out of the parking lot.
Dallas County prosecutor Jason Hermus lauded Brown for his bravery in being a witness, saying, “He bravely came forward to testify when others wouldn’t. If we had more people like him, we would have a better world.”
On the night Amber Guyger fatally shot Botham Jean in his apartment, allegedly mistaking it for her own, Brown was in the hallway and heard the brief exchange and gunshots.
