Joshua Brown, the 28-year-old Dallas man who was shot to death last week shortly after providing key testimony in the Amber Guyger murder trial, was scheduled to provide testimony against the city’s police department in a civil suit.

Brown had already testified against Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer who shot and killed Brown’s neighbor Botham Jean in September of 2018. Guyger was convicted of murder and received ten years in prison.

Brown was set to be a witness in the Jean family’s upcoming wrongful-death lawsuit against the Dallas police department.
