Energy Secretary Rick Perry has announced he will be resigning from his post at the end of the year.
His announcement was received amicably by President Donald Trump, who spoke highly of Perry. Trump also said that his replacement has been chosen.
“Rick has done a fantastic job,” Trump said. “It’s his time. Two years is a long time. We have the man we’re going to be putting in Rick’s place.”
🔦 Perry’s resignation comes during a tense impeachment inquiry against the president. Sources have indicated that Perry was going to testify adversely before the House on Trump’s dealings with Ukraine. Perry has denounced these claims and says he supports an investigation into Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, and his dealings with Ukraine.
