Trump admin. proposes rule to protect faith-based adoption agencies that decline LGBT parents

The Trump administration has proposed a rule that would protect faith-based foster care and adoption agencies from losing taxpayer funding if they refuse to adopt children to LGBT families based on their religious beliefs.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the proposal on Friday, citing concerns about religious freedom.

The proposed would roll back an Obama-era mandate that included sexual orientation as a protected trait under anti-discrimination laws.
