Mother in viral overdose photo celebrates 3 years of sobriety

A mother who gained notoriety after a photo of her overdosing on heroin with her infant son in the back seat of her car went viral has now been sober for three years, she announced on Facebook late last month.

In the post, Erika Hurt writes about overdosing on the drug and then receiving Narcan, a medicine used to treat narcotic overdoses. The drug “saved my life,” Hurt writes in the post.
