House will host first public impeachment hearings next week

The House Intelligence Committee will allow the American public to witness the current impeachment proceedings for the first time next week, ending several weeks of secret closed-door hearings related to the ongoing Ukraine scandal.

Adam Schiff, the Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, announced on Twitter that William Taylor and George Kent, Ukrainian ambassador and deputy assistant secretary of state, respectively, will publicly testify on Wednesday, November 13. Former ambassador Marie Yovanovitch will testify on November 15. All three have already provided testimony behind closed doors.

Schiff promised that the open-door hearings would be an opportunity for American citizens to “learn firsthand about the facts of the president’s misconduct.”
