President Trump is reportedly considering attending a military parade in Russia next year, having received an invitation to the event from Russian President Vladimir Putin himself.
Trump said on Friday he was “thinking about” attending the May demonstration, called the “Victory Day Parade.” It is meant to demonstrate Russia’s military might on the anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany. The Nazi government officially surrendered on May 7, 1945.
Next May’s celebration will mark the 75th anniversary of the surrender. Putin had invited Trump to the event at the G20 Summit, held in June of this year.
“It’s a very big deal, celebrating the end of the war,” Trump said on Friday.
